INDEPENDENCE – (March 5, 2014) – An Independence man was sentenced Tuesday to 5 years in prison for conspiracy to manufacture methamphetamine, Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt said today.
Paul Gates, 56, was sentenced to 60 months in the Kansas Department of Corrections by Judge F. William Cullins in Montgomery County District Court. Gates was found guilty of the crime in December 2013. The crime occurred in December 2011.
The charge stemmed from an investigation by the Independence Police Department. Assistant Attorney General Greg Benefiel of Schmidt’s office prosecuted the case.
